That last row is why heavily decorated names are almost always short words. If your guild name is Nightfall Ops (13 characters), you have room for one symbol and one space — not a full frame.

Styling a name for a full squad
If you want every member’s IGN to match the guild name, the frame has to be short enough to leave room for each player’s own name. Read the team and squad naming guide for matched-set formats.
Why your styled name shows as empty boxes
This is the single most common complaint, and it isn’t your phone — it’s theirs.
When a device doesn’t have a font covering a given Unicode character, it draws a replacement box (▯) instead. Your name looks perfect to you because your phone’s font set covers those glyphs. Someone on an older or lower-spec Android may see nothing but boxes, which makes your guild look broken in the recruitment list.
The practical rule: the more obscure the Unicode block, the higher the risk. Ranked from safest to riskiest:
- Safe — basic punctuation, arrows (➤ ✦ ★ ☆), CJK brackets 「」【】
- Usually fine — chess and card symbols (♛ ♞ ♠), daggers (†), superscript letters
- Risky — Khmer decorative (꧁ ꧂), Tibetan (༺ ༻), enclosed alphanumerics (🅐 🅑)
- Avoid — recent emoji, regional indicator pairs, anything added to Unicode in the last few years
Test before you pay: type the name into a chat message and send it to a friend on a different phone. If it renders for them, it will render in the guild list.
Names Garena will reject
Beyond profanity, a few categories get blocked that surprise people:
- Anything implying official status — Garena, Admin, Moderator, Official.
- Terms associated with account selling or top-up services.
- Zero-width and invisible characters used to fake a blank name.
- Excessive repeated symbols — some filters treat a long symbol run as spam.
If a name is refused with no explanation, strip symbols one at a time from the outside in. Nine times out of ten it’s a single glyph, not the word.
